Encrypted bookmarks - unable to decrypt
If you have encrypted bookmarks, they can only be decrypted with the correct decryption key. Chrome sends this to Google each time it changes (i.e. due to a password or passphrase change or certain other changes).
When CMarks receives a decryption key from Google, it always prompts the user to enter the decryption password or passphrase as soon as the sync has finished.
If you don't get a prompt to enter the decryption password or passphrase when the sync finishes and everything you see says "encrypted":
If the password or passphrase you enter keeps getting rejected as wrong even though you know it is correct:

- This means your Chrome browser has stopped syncing and has not sent any decryption keys to Google. Without them, CMarks cannot decrypt your bookmarks.
- Please follow the instructions here to "nudge" your Chrome browser to try and send the missing data back to Google.
If the password or passphrase you enter keeps getting rejected as wrong even though you know it is correct:
- This means your Chrome browser has stopped syncing the latest changes back to Google. CMarks only has access to old decryption keys which are no longer valid and don't match your current password or passphrase.
- Please follow the instructions here to "nudge" your Chrome browser to try and send the missing data back to Google.
