How does syncing of local bookmarks work?
To sync your local bookmarks, go into the settings and enable your browser. Note that only browsers that allow other apps access to their bookmarks are supported - xScope, Miren, Boat are four popular browsers known not to work.
[ Please mail their respective devs if you want this additional functionality - I've had no response yet from Dolphin devs. ]
There are currently two methods of syncing your local browser:
Sync local bookmarks to folder in Chrome
(Only for 2.x devices. Sorry, Google made changes to the Browser from 3.0 onwards that means this is incompatible)

- Once enabled, CMarks will create a new folder for you under your Bookmark Bar. This folder will be named after your device e.g. "My HTC Hero Bookmarks".
- Once created, you can rename and move this folder, but only move it by drag and drop in the Bookmark manager - deleting and recreating it is not the same! If you delete the folder, CMarks will create it again next sync unless you disable the setting.
- Don't bother creating a sub folder in this special folder - it will be completely ignored by CMarks when syncing into your Android browser.
- CMarks will then perform a two-way sync between this folder and your local bookmarks each time you sync and will keep them both up-to date with each other.
- In the rare event that there are multiple changes on both a Chrome bookmark and the matching Android bookmark, CMarks will assume the Chrome one is more correct.
- Due to the way Chrome has periodic checks for bookmark changes, you may want to restart Chrome to see any changes made in CMarks immediately, or simply wait a few minutes as normal.
Integrate Chrome bookmarks in local browser
- Once enabled, CMarks will export a copy of all your Chrome bookmarks into your local browser. You can choose to include dummy folders and indent the bookmarks beneath, or to simply prefix each bookmark's name with part of the names of each folder they are under.
- At the moment, this process is one-way only - bookmarks are copied over after each sync. If you make changes to any bookmark in your local browser, these are overwritten after each sync. This may be fixed in a later release.
- There are some limitations with this first release of integration:
- The bookmarks and folders are currently integrated in alphabetical order only.
- The Stock Browser does not allow other apps to change the way it looks, so I cannot make bookmarks appear differently.
- If you view bookmarks in the Stock browser as a "grid" then you should probably disable the "force folders" as each bookmark will be indented and the grid only shows the first few characters of each bookmark.
